The pickup truck that fatally struck a 32-year-old woman in Detroit on Monday has been recovered by police.

One person was killed Tuesday when a pickup truck barreled into the woods off of U.S. 23 in Washtenaw County, police said.

Morning rush hour traffic was stifled Wednesday on I-94 in Detroit after a vehicle struck the concrete median, spewing debris onto the interstate near Gratiot Avenue.

Used car prices are up 20.8% in the Detroit market over the past year. Nationally, used car prices have increased 16.8%, or $3,926, over the past 12 months, compared to most years when they remain constant.

As dusk settled at Ford headquarters Wednesday, the atmosphere started to feel like a Detroit Lions night game.

A pedestrian who confronted a driver about speeding through an Ypsilanti Township neighborhood was thrown off the truck when the driver sped away during the exchange, police said.

The seat belt recall covers 624,000 2019 through 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. Also included are the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon XL, and the 2020 and 2021 Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500. GM says in government documents that the seat belt brackets may not have been secured to the seat frame. GM will notify owners starting Feb. 1 and dealers will inspect the seat belt brackets and assemble them correctly.

DEARBORN, Mich.Ford and Volkswagen will each offer a small city van, a larger cargo van, a small pickup truck and an electric vehicle as part of their global alliance announced last year. The companies announced some details of what the venture will yield Wednesday, with the city van created by VW and a 1-ton cargo van engineered by Ford to be sold by both companies. Also, VW will make a small pickup built on the underpinnings of Ford's Ranger, and Ford will build an unidentified electric vehicle for Europe based on VW's modular design, the companies said. VW would start selling the pickup truck in 2022, and the electric vehicle would come in 2023, the companies said in a statement. The companies also said last year that they would jointly fund autonomous vehicle development, with VW investing in Argo AI, a Pittsburgh company largely owned by Ford.
