Man charged in animal neglect case surrenders dogs to Genesee County Animal Control

GENESEE COUNTY, MI—A Flint Township man accused of neglecting eight dogs, including one so severely it had to have one of its legs amputated, has surrendered the dogs to Genesee County Animal Control, officials said Wednesday, Feb. 23. Hatchett’s charges stem from a December 2021 tip to Genesee County Animal Control that several dogs at a home were being neglected. Related: Genesee County man charged in neglect case involving 8 dogsBut during a Wednesday news conference, animal control officials said Hatchett had surrendered the dogs to the county. “All of the dogs we got from there are actually very friendly dogs,” said Genesee County Animal Control Director Jay Parker.
