Biz leader from Saginaw Township entangled in ugly dispute between electrical workers, ex-employer
About 75 protest participants took issue with Greene’s recent support of United Electrical Contractors. ABC of Michigan serves as a trade association statewide for contracting companies, including United Electrical Contractors. In the statement, he called the lawsuit “bogus” and an attempt by a competing, union organization — International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers — to oust the nonunion United Electrical Contractors from a job it won in a contract bid. “There were complaints filed (against United Electrical Contractors), and if they’re found guilty, they should have every kind of repercussion there is,” said Greene, of Saginaw Township. He said Greene “turned a blind eye to justice” by coming to the defense of United Electrical Contractors.

ANN ARBOR, MI — Former workers of a Michigan electrical contracting business and dozens of their supporters demonstrated near a downtown Ann Arbor construction site Thursday, Jan. 27, protesting what they described as “obscenely racist” treatment of workers on job sites. Protesters gathered Thursday across from The Standard, a 10-story high-rise being built in downtown Ann Arbor by Georgia-based Landmark Properties. In speeches during Thursday’s protest and in written testimonies, they discussed racism and discrimination they said they experienced on other job sites in Michigan. Tavera said he worked as an apprentice electrician for United Electrical in 2020 and heard white employees and managers use the N-word regularly.
