Medical issue may have led to fatal crash near Port Huron, police say
ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MI – Authorities believe a medical issue caused a 53-year-old Wales Township man to crash his vehicle into a steel barrier at a Michigan MDOT Welcome Center near Port Huron which led to his death. A preliminary investigation shows the driver likely experienced a medical episode that caused the crash, the sheriff’s office said. The St. Clair County Accident Investigation Unit and the St. Clair County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing the investigation. Port Huron Township Fire Department and Tri-Hospital EMS assisted the sheriff’s office with the crash incident.
