2013: Islamic militants attack the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, killing at least 67 people in an extended attack, using firearms and hand grenades. The terrorists held many customers hostage and it took four days to end the attack, by which time three floors of the mall had collapsed because of it.
