EU pushes for โright to disconnectโ from work at home
BRUSSELS โ European Union lawmakers on Wednesday voted in favor of a โright to disconnectโ from the internet and email, with around one third of people now working from home across the 27-nation bloc due in large part to coronavirus restrictions. โThe COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed the way we work and we must update our rules to catch up with the new reality,โ said Maltese Socialist lawmaker Alex Agius Saliba, who led work on the resolution. The resolution, which is non-binding, was passed by 31 votes to 6 against, with 18 abstentions in the European Parliamentโs Employment Committee. It must still have to be rubber stamped by the full house, then submitted to the commission and national EU governments for possible endorsement. They say home workers should be able to disconnect without facing repercussions from their employers.

Itโs especially hard when youโre used to doing something that you really enjoy and then thatโs taken away from you. Itโs hard, but I think itโs only going to make us stronger. (WDIV)I start to wonder how long itโs going to be until weโre able to gather like that again. But Iโm really starting to appreciate how peaceful it is to give yourself space. but Iโm also going to make sure I take more time to continue to have moments by myself like Iโm doing now.
Kim DeGiulio: Adjusting to this new normal
My husband is working from home and Iโm working in a newsroom that feels empty as many of our staff is also working from home. My husband and I live in a smaller apartment downtown so heโs turned our dining table into his new office. Itโs a great way to calm your stress which I know a lot of us are dealing with right now. Other than movies and eating carry out, Iโm planning on catching up on lots of sleep this weekend. This weekend will be a blessing and Iโll come back on Monday well rested and ready for another work week!
