Red Wings sign 19-year-old Donovan Sebrango to entry-level contract
Donovan Sebrango is a Steve Yzerman draft pick, first and foremost. That means quite a lot considering the GM’s drafting track record: Nikita Kucherov (2nd round), Brayden Point (3rd round), Anthony Cirelli (3rd round), Mathieu Joseph (4th round), dare I say Moritz Seider? Entry-level contractThe Yzerman regime selected Sebrango in the 3rd round, 63rd overall, in the 2020 draft. The Red Wings now have signed the 19-year-old defenseman to a three-year entry-level contract this week. You can understand why Yzerman would grab him in the 3rd round.

In 44 career NHL games with Detroit and Toronto, he has four goals and five assists. The Maple Leafs drafted Timashov in the fifth round in 2015. ___For more AP NHL coverage: https://apnews.com/NHL and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

The Detroit Red Wings have selected Swedish defenseman William Wallinder at 32nd overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. Here’s how Wallinder is described by Elite Prospects:“Wallinder towers over the competition, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 194 pounds -- there’s plenty of room for him to fill out that frame. He might be the most technically skilled skater among all defenceman in this draft. He’s a great puck-carrier, eager to lead his team up the ice, and with a great deal of initiative in creative offensive chances.”Wallinder became GM Steve Yzerman’s second pick out of Sweden in this draft. Wings outscored 12-3; what now??
If you factor in the 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs before the trip out west, the Red Wings have been outscored 17-5 in their past four games. Meanwhile, Andreas Athanasiou, who scored 30 goals last season, is without a goal in the third week of October. Seriously, all I can think about is the "Summer of Yzerman" after 11 contracts come off of Detroit's books. An updated look at possible 2019-20 Red Wings lineup
He was hurt all last year, but can he be healthy enough to get a spot on this roster when the season starts? He is coming off of a real bad year (6 goals, 13 assists, -14 rating in 71 games played) and the Red Wings have suddenly added Erne to the roster. The 23-year-old winger played 60 games with the Wings this past season (3 goals, 6 assists) -- is he in the mix? There's also Madison Bowey, who the Red Wings acquired through the Nick Jensen trade in February. Who is actually going to be playing for the Red Wings?

Abdelkader has that hefty contract that does not look good sitting on the 4th line. It's just a mess of different/bad contracts, aging players, young players with unknown value, and players like Cholowski and Hronek who look like the future, but we still can't quite tell -- although Hronek dominated at the 2019 World Championships.
