Bloomfield Hills woman, Pontiac man killed in head-on crash on Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills

Police say man's vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – A 69-year-old Bloomfield Hills woman and a 43-year-old Pontiac man both died Monday after a head-on collision on Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills, police said. 

The man's red 2009 Dodge Journey was traveling south on Opdyke Road when it crossed the centerline south of M-59 about 10:50 a.m. and struck the woman's blue 2013 Chrysler Town and Country head-on, Auburn Hills police said. The woman was transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac where she died from her injuries. She was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

The man driving the Journey was alone his vehicle, too. He also was transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac before later being transferred to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where he died from his injuries. 

Police said the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT) is investigating this crash. The team is comprised of crash investigators from Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Township, Troy, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, and Clawson.
