Leaders roll out summer violence prevention strategy for teens

As summer vacation approaches, leaders across Detroit are launching a citywide effort to keep young people safe, engaged, and away from violence during the school break. The initiative, called “Occupy the Summer,” was announced by Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield alongside police officials, youth mentors, neighborhood leaders, and local business owners.
