Metro Detroit weather: Round of snow expected Tuesday

Here’s what to watch for this week

DETROIT – Temps are in the upper 20s to low 30s which is cool enough for some icy spots on the roads from any Sunday moisture refreezing.

Be mindful, and you’re all good. Skies are mostly cloudy, and the wind chills are in the lower to mid 20s with just a light, southwest breeze.

Sunrise is at 8:02 a.m.

Our skies will stay mostly cloudy today with a few brief periods of clearing. We will be dry under those grey skies and highs will be in the mid to maybe upper 30s. The winds will be on the quiet side for the next few days, and today it’s from the SW 5-10 mph keeping the wind chills in the 20s most of the day.

Sunset is at 5:15 p.m.

Tuesday snow forecast

We have a weak Alberta Clipper system coming at us Tuesday, and the day should start with snow showers around through the morning drive and into the early afternoon. It looks like another coating to an inch or two, which seems like the norm so far this winter season.

We’ll shift from the upper 20s to the mid and upper 30s for temps during the day Tuesday with cooler breezes WSW to WNW 5-11 mph.

Rest of week

Conditions look fairly calm and dull again midweek through the end of the week. That mostly dry spell will carry into the weekend and through most of next week.

We will deal with only partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies during that stretch with just a little bit of moisture coming at us from both the Atlantic, and Gulf.

No rains or snows of any significance for another week and a half. Fans of Winter have no fear, the models show much more active weather coming our way by mid January.
