Beautiful weather ends the week in Metro Detroit before rain moves in

Thursday highs in middle 70s under sunny skies

DETROITGood Thursday morning!

We have loads of comfortable temperatures around Metro Detroit as we wake up this morning. Most areas closer to Downtown Detroit start in the middle and upper 50s, while some of our suburbs will see temps dip down into the lower 50s. Some spots will have patchy fog once again.

We do have a little bit of cloud cover coming and going, which may stabilize the morning temps, reducing that fog threat.

Today’s sunrise was at 7:13 a.m.

We had a weak little cool front move through here late yesterday, which means our highs will be a bit cooler this Thursday afternoon. High temperatures settle in the middle and upper 70s.

We should get plenty of that free vitamin D under mostly sunny skies, with a cooler breeze from the big lakes moving NE/SE at 5-12 mph. The cool front and that cooler breeze will have Metro Detroit feeling a little bit more like fall than summer, but it will be a most beautiful day.

Things have been quite dry across SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario over the last several weeks, and there are no good signs of rain for several days.

Tonight’s sunset is at 7:43 p.m.

Staying dry Friday

Friday will bring another swing back into the warm zone as the winds shift direction, coming at us from the south. A few waves of high clouds will be moving through our area, leaving our skies only partly sunny.

Morning lows will be in the upper 50s, and afternoon highs in the lower 80s. We may bump that up if we see a gap in those clouds tomorrow afternoon. Those clouds will not produce any rain or any concerns for Friday night.

Warmth continues with rain chances

Saturday will be a nice continuation of warmth, with high temperatures taking off into the middle or upper 80s. We’ll have a beautiful blend of sun and clouds and a bit of a warming breeze moving SW at 5-15 mph.

We have several college football games around the state, and we see no weather problems getting in the way. Grab the sunscreen, shades and plenty of water.

Sunday will be more of the same, with morning sunshine before clouds gradually increase throughout the afternoon. Highs will hit the middle and upper 80s in that warming breeze moving SW at 7-17 mph. It’s phenomenal weather for the indoor and outdoor events for the North American International Auto Show -- at least, until the very, very end of our weekend.

Week kicks off with rain

Our next rainmaker will move in late on Sunday, bringing the chance for showers after 8 p.m. We’ll see scattered rain showers overnight into Monday morning, but it doesn’t look like a washout Monday.

The drive to work and school may be a bit damp and slow, but we will keep you posted. We should get back into a little sunshine into the afternoon Monday with temps tempting the middle 80s. It’s early, but the computer models show a dry midweek here with shower chances landing on the start of Fall which is next Thursday. Stay tuned.
