Rain showers arrive amid cool week in Metro Detroit: What to expect and when

Scattered showers expected Tuesday afternoon

4Warn Weather – Our Tuesday begins chilly with wind chills on either side of 40 degrees. The day starts with some light showers well north of M-59, but keep the umbrella handy because rain chances increase later today.

Clouds will stick around today. Winds will remain breezy, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Highs will be in the low and mid-50s.

More widespread, scattered showers will likely move in late this afternoon and evening.

Tonight’s sunset is at 7 p.m.

Still cooler, more rain later

Expect a slight warm-up on Wednesday with highs around 60 degrees, which is still a few degrees below average. Skies will be partly sunny.

Additional chances for rain showers will build in later Thursday and will last through the weekend. Temperatures will trend in the mid- and upper 50s to round out the work week and into the weekend.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, freeze warnings and frost advisories drape much of the Great Lakes and upper Midwest to start the day Tuesday. Meanwhile, a disturbance in the Gulf is expected to bring heavy rainfall and breezy conditions.
