Chance for rain before colder temps, snow showers move into Metro Detroit

Colder temps move in for the next few days with a few snow showers

A few light snow showers are in the forecast for Sunday and into Monday with colder temperatures (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – After some sunshine to end the week, we’re going to keep a little sunshine into the forecast to start the weekend, but then we have colder changes heading our way as we look ahead to end the winter season and ring in spring early next week.

A cold front will move through the region Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. While our high temperatures will be above average throughout the day, we will also bring in the chance of a few rain showers Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. High temperature is heading for the upper 50s by Saturday afternoon. Expect winds to be gusty as the cold front moves through the region, winds gusting as high as 30 MPH for a good portion of the day on Saturday.

Once that cold front rolls through, we will increase the cloud cover Saturday night into Sunday morning, and the northwesterly flow will kick in throughout the end of the weekend on Sunday. This will bring colder air into the region, and we will bring in the chance of a few light snow showers throughout the day. High temperatures heading into the middle 40s by Sunday afternoon, which is very close to where we should be for this time in mid-March. With the colder air moving into the region, expect the breezy winds to continue for Sunday, winds gusting as high as 20-25 MPH for a good portion of the day.

We will keep the chance of a few light snow showers into the forecast into early next week on Monday. Colder temperatures continuing to stick around as high temperatures only make it into the upper 30s by Monday afternoon.

The cloud cover will stick around as we head into the first day of spring on Tuesday. Temperatures will be a few degrees warmer as we head into the low 40s by Tuesday afternoon, which is close to where we should be for this time in mid-March, but we are going to bring in the chance of a few lights snow showers late Tuesday night with another disturbance rolling through the region.

Once that disturbance moves out of the way, we will bring in a mixture of sunshine and clouds for Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures remaining into the middle 40s for Wednesday and warming into the upper 40s by Thursday afternoon.

A little more cloud cover will roll into the region by the time we get to the end of the week on Friday. High temperatures remaining into the upper 40s by Friday afternoon.
