We’re starting off this morning with snow over a good portion of the region as we’ve been watching these lake effect snow band set up overnight Wednesday and into early on Thursday morning.
The snow bands will sink south along and south of M-59 into the I-94, I-96 and I-696 region through the mid to late morning hours this morning, dropping a few inches of snow in some locations.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties until 10:00 AM Thursday Morning. These areas could see a storm total of 3” to 5” of snow in some locations before it’s all said and done.
Outside of that, we have some scattered snow showers that will stick around throughout the day with gusty winds as well. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 miles an hour gusting upwards of 35 to 40 miles an hour can be expected for most of the day today.
That will put wind chills into the single digits for majority of the day today, and we will keep these cold temperatures into the forecast overnight tonight into early on Friday morning. Expect high temperatures only into the low 20s on Thursday, before we warm things up into the mid 20s for the end of the week on Friday.
Once the Lake effect snow showers and snow machine winds down late tonight, we will bring some sunshine into the forecast for the end of the week on Friday as high pressure tries to build into the region. But expect the cold temperatures to stick around.
Looking ahead into the weekend, we will see a drastic warm-up for both Saturday and Sunday, with our next system, moving into the region. Expect rain showers to move into the region late Saturday night and into the first part of our Sunday. High temperature is heading for the upper 30s on Saturday, then warming into the low 40s by the end of the weekend on Sunday.
