A Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening. Off and on showers remain in the forecast with upward of a half inch for rain in the forecast over ground that is already saturated.
A Marginal Risk for severe weather has been issued for today generally south of a line from Howell to Port Huron. We could see isolated severe storms this afternoon with the main threats being strong winds and large hail. The rain chances are with us all day, but the potential for greater convection (stronger storms) would be this afternoon. However, there are a lot of factors from now until then that will sway the level of that severe threat.
If showers are less prevalent and partial sunshine develops today then instability would be greater. The more rain and clouds today will hinder that instability. Even with the rainfall, highs today are expected to be in the low 70s.
Dry conditions briefly return on Friday, but will give way to rain and a chance of thunderstorms late Friday night through the first half of Saturday as a strong cold front moves through. Our stretch of 70s and 80s will come to an end... We turn breezy and much colder Sunday with high temperatures dropping into the mid-to-upper 40s. A few snowflakes are even possible given that temperatures drop into the 20s Sunday night.
