Warmer weekend ahead for Metro Detroit with shower, thunderstorm chances

Sunshine returns today with highs in the sixties

A fantastic Friday is on tap with partly sunny skies and afternoon highs climbing to around 70 degrees. Comfortable conditions will make for a great end to the workweek, with light winds and a pleasant spring feel across the area. Whether you are heading to Comerica Park tonight or a little league game, enjoy this seasonal weather!

Warmer Weekend

Looking ahead to the weekend, heat and humidity will begin to build and are expected to continue into the middle of next week. Highs over the weekend will trend nearly ten degrees above average, around 80. While warmer air settles in, the forecast also brings several opportunities for showers and thunderstorms from this weekend through early next week. Confidence remains low regarding the exact timing and coverage of rainfall, so folks should stay tuned for forecast updates as conditions evolve. However, as of this writing, the better chance for more widespread and heavy rain is looking to be late Saturday morning into the early afternoon hours. The back side of the system will be cutting it close to the time of the first pitch of the Tigers game on Saturday.

Taste of Summer

Temperatures will steadily climb, with the potential for highs reaching the mid to upper 80s by Monday and Tuesday as an active weather pattern lingers. Overall, expect a transition from mild and pleasant weather Friday to a much warmer and more humid pattern heading into next week, with periodic storm chances along the way.
