4Warn Weather – After a stretch of dangerous heat, severe storms and flooding, Metro Detroit is finally getting a break from active weather.
Last week, Southeast Michigan experienced a heat wave that pushed the heat index above 100 degrees.
The extreme heat was followed by rounds of severe weather heading into the Fourth of July weekend, leaving many people cleaning up storm damage and waiting for power to be restored.
Powerful storms moved through Metro Detroit on Friday, July 3, producing damaging winds and heavy rain. Some areas also dealt with flooding from the storms.
The good news: quieter and more comfortable conditions are moving in.
Showers that lingered Monday morning have moved out, allowing drier air to settle across Southeast Michigan. Humidity levels will continue to drop, bringing a much more comfortable feel compared to last week.
Monday night
Monday night will be mostly clear with temperatures falling into the lower 60s.
Tuesday
Tuesday brings one of the nicest days of the week with mostly sunny skies, lower humidity, and highs in the mid-80s.
The Detroit Tigers will have ideal weather as they open the next series with the Athletics.
Wednesday and Thursday
Temperatures will gradually climb through the middle of the week as warmer air returns. Highs will reach the upper 80s on Wednesday and the mid to upper 80s on Thursday.
The next chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives Thursday afternoon and continues into Friday as another weather system moves toward the Great Lakes.
For now, Southeast Michigan gets a couple of days of dry weather, which will help with storm cleanup efforts and give residents a chance to enjoy more typical July conditions after a week of weather extremes.
