Watch sports, drink beer: Alcohol sales begin at Ann Arbor’s Crisler Center and Yost Ice Arena

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Fans at the Crisler Center will be able to imbibe during events for the first time on Friday.

Alcoholic drinks will be sold during an evening wrestling match against the University of Iowa, and then again on Saturday during a men’s basketball game against Rutgers University.

Event goers at the Sunday, women’s gymnastics match and women’s basketball on Tuesday, Feb. 6, will also be able to buy alcohol at the stadium at 333 E. Stadium Blvd.

Hockey fans at Yost Ice Arena, at 1116 S. State St., won’t be left out. They will be able to buy alcohol for the first time on Friday, Feb. 9, during the game against Michigan State University.

To purchase alcoholic beverages during events, fans will need to show an ID and will be limited to two drinks per transaction per legal-age guest, according to a notice from the University of Michigan.

Both the Crisler Center and Yost also started monitoring for weapons on Jan. 4, after the walk-through system found success at Michigan Stadium.

In October 2023, the University of Michigan Board of Regents approved of athletic departments applying for liquor licenses through the Michigan Liquor Control Commission for the Big House, Crisler Center and Yost Ice Arena.
