Celebrate National Sandwich Month with a traditional or vegan sammie

Sandwich shop in Royal Oak is opening a new location in Pontiac

August is National Sandwich Month, so it’s the perfect time to grab a Reuben, take a bite out of a turkey sandwich, or even indulge in a Philly Cheesesteak. Oak House Deli is a local sandwich shop that could help satisfy your sandwich cravings.

Tony Maisano, the owner of Oak House Deli, talked with “Live in the D” resident foodie Michelle Oliver about the sandwiches on their menu. Tony says they have traditional sandwiches, but also replicate a vegan version for many of their items. Sandwiches on Oak House Deli’s menu include a Spicy Turkey Bacon Avocado, Chicken Caesar Wrap, Club Supreme, Pizza Sub, Tuna Salad Sandwich, Corned Beef Reuben, Italian, and many more. Tony demonstrated how a vegan version of Oak House Deli’s “Big Mick” is made. It’s served on a soft sub with vegan cheese, vegan steak, special sauce, onions, pickles, and lettuce. Oak House Deli also offers sides like a vegan potato salad and broccoli crunch salad.

Oak House Deli is located at 603 S. Washington in downtown Royal Oak. The sandwich shop is also opening a new location in Pontiac. Tony says Oak House Deli has partnered with The Crofoot and will be serving lunch at the event venue’s café. They will also be able to feed patrons during shows at The Crofoot. Oak House Deli’s new location in Pontiac is slated to open August 8th. Watch the video above to see what else is on their menu.
