DASHCAM VIDEO: Roseville officer charged with misdemeanor in suspected drunken driving stop

Internal investigations underway at two police departments

FERNDALE, Mich. – Edited dashcam video was released Tuesday as an off-duty Roseville police officer was arraigned on misdemeanor charges in connection with driving the wrong way on Woodward Avenue in Ferndale.

The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 9.

David Raymer, 40, of Macomb Township, was charged with misdemeanor reckless driving.

Sources told Local 4 that Raymer was suspected of drunken driving, but was not arrested and instead was taken home, as was his passenger. A breathalyzer test was never administered.

“You know what kind of jam you’re putting me in?” the officer tells Raymer during the traffic stop.

The dashcam video appears to have been edited and the microphone wasn’t turned on for the first two minutes of the traffic stop.

Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said last week they were taking the situation very seriously and are conducting an internal investigation. The Ferndale Police Department also was conducting an internal investigation.

Raymer pleaded not guilty and was released on a $1,500 bond.
