Attorney for Macomb County Clerk Karen Spranger: Register of deeds threatened to 'lynch' me
Frank Cusumano accuses Jackie Ryan of leaving threatening voicemail
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – The attorney for embattled Macomb County Clerk Karen Spranger has filed a lawsuit accusing Spranger's register of deeds of threatening him.
Frank Cusumano filed a criminal report and ethics violation against Jackie Ryan, saying she threatened to "lynch" him.
The lawsuit accuses Ryan of calling Cusumano and leaving a voicemail that said, in part, "If you ever show your face in here again, we're going to lynch you."
Cusumano said the incident happened Dec. 11 after Spranger's court date in St. Clair County. He said the voicemail was a threat by Ryan and other workers at the register of deeds that he would be hurt if he showed up at the office.
Cusumano recently filed to be removed as counsel on all of Spranger's cases, but the motion was denied.
