Traffic: Weekend construction list

Remember to heck the construction list before you travel today. It's been a busy weekend out there with construction barrels all over this great state.

Take it easy -- plan ahead and don't speed!

Here's a look ahead at what's happening this week:

Summer vacation nearly over πŸ”š

Sorry kids: If you're not already back to school, then this is likely your last week of summer vacation. Most Michigan school districts' first day of the 2019-20 school year starts Tuesday, Sept. 3. If there is anything you need to get done before the school year starts, get going now. Parents, if you have a toddler going to school for the first time this year, here are some helpful tips about preschool from a former teacher.

Arts, Beats & Eats πŸ–ΌοΈ 🎢 πŸ”

Before summer vacation ends, Arts, Beats & Eats will start Friday in Royal Oak! It will run right through Labor Day. The festival offers more than 200 performances on nine stages, a highly ranked Juried Fine Arts Show, and local restaurants with some of the finest cuisine in Metro Detroit. Take a look at the music lineup here.Β

Detroit Jazz Festival 🎷

If jazz is more your thing, then head to Downtown Detroit this week. The Detroit Jazz Festival is the world's largest free jazz musical festival. It's now in its 40th year bringing top jazz artists -- such as Stanley Clarke -- to the city to perform on several stages. More than 300,000 people flock to the city to hear the smooth sounds over the four-day event. It also gets started Friday and runs through Labor Day.

We're so lucky to live in this event-filled area!

College football season gets going 🏈 πŸ“£

College football is back! Michigan State will open the season Friday night against Tulsa, and then Michigan will open its season on Saturday against Middle Tenn. State. This is the time of year college sports fans live for!

Enjoy!
