DETROIT – As Michigan school districts begin to announce their learning plans for the fall amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, families are facing a tough decision -- to commit their students to in-person learning or remote learning.

While a number of organizations, parents and protesters have declared that resuming in-person learning is unsafe amid the pandemic, remote learning also poses its own challenges for parents and students alike.

On Sunday we sat down with Jametta Lilly, CEO of the Detroit Parent Network, and Local 4′s Paula Tutman to learn more about these challenges and and how they’re influencing parents’ decisions for schooling this fall.

Local 4′s Devin Scillian also talked with Lisa McClain, a political newcomer who seemingly came out of no where -- and just won the Republican nomination for Michigan’s 10th congressional district.

We also heard from Nolan Finley from The Detroit News and Stephen Henderson from Detroit Today regarding the election results from Michigan’s primary last week.
