Detroit police seek man who escaped from police car following arrest

DETROIT – Police are seeking a man who escaped from the back of a Detroit police vehicle after being detained on Wednesday afternoon.

Detroit police say they conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for not having a license plate on Wednesday. During the traffic stop, two guns were found inside the vehicle.

Police then arrested the man and woman in the vehicle for carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle.

Police say the man was placed into the back of a marked police vehicle while officers detained the woman outside of the vehicle.

The man escaped from the back of the police vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Linwood and Davison streets. Officials did not share details regarding the man’s identity.

Police say the woman remains in police custody as of Wednesday afternoon.

This is an ongoing investigation.
