Woman reports fake shooting in hopes Troy police wouldn’t arrest her boyfriend during traffic stop
A Madison Heights woman called 911 and reported a fake shooting in the hopes that Troy officers would respond to the more serious crime and not arrest her boyfriend during a traffic stop, authorities said.

ANN ARBOR – A Michigan State Police trooper’s vehicle was struck by a passing car on Wednesday when the officer was about to exit the patrol car. The officer was about to perform a traffic stop on E/B M-14 near Barton Drive at 9:45 p.m. when the incident occurred. During that traffic stop, it was revealed that the 31-year-old Ann Arbor man was intoxicated. He admitted to troopers that he was aware he struck a patrol car but decided to keep driving.
Warning issued about possible police impersonator in Washtenaw County
YPSILANTI, Mich. – A 26-year-old man recently reported a suspicious Washtenaw County based traffic stop involving a possible police impersonator. On Thursday, Feb. 11 at around 7:30 p.m. the Ypsilanti man called police to report the traffic stop he was involved in. According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle that pulled him over had red and blue lights. The Ypsilanti man then drove off since he knew the interaction was suspicious. Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office announces new policy to fight racial profiling
ANN ARBOR – The Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office announced today a new policy aimed at combatting racial profiling. The policy directive is only applicable to “consent searches” after routine ordinance or traffic stops. “We are sending a message that we are not interested in pursuing contraband charges that stem from racial profiling. Our Policy Regarding Pretext Stops is another proactive step towards creating a criminal justice system that works for all of us. Detroit police seek man who escaped from police car following arrest
DETROIT – Police are seeking a man who escaped from the back of a Detroit police vehicle after being detained on Wednesday afternoon. Detroit police say they conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for not having a license plate on Wednesday. Police then arrested the man and woman in the vehicle for carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle. Police say the man was placed into the back of a marked police vehicle while officers detained the woman outside of the vehicle. The man escaped from the back of the police vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Linwood and Davison streets.

Drunk teenage girl crashes SUV after getting into drivers seat to flee traffic stop, police say
PONTIAC, Mich. A drunk 17-year-old girl who had vomit on her shirt and fell onto the ground during a traffic stop got in the drivers seat of an SUV and fled Pontiac police before crashing into a pole, according to authorities. A 17-year-old Pontiac girl in the passengers seat had vomit on her shirt and appeared to be intoxicated, according to officials. While he was speaking to an Oakland County deputy, the girl fell out of the SUV and onto the ground, officials said. She got back inside the SUV, slid over to the drivers seat and sped away from the scene, according to authorities. The girl was taken into custody and brought to McLaren Oakland Hospital for a blood draw, police said.
Oakland County deputy shoots teenage girl after driver flees car during traffic stop, police say
PONTIAC, Mich. – An Oakland County deputy shot a 16-year-old girl in the passenger seat of a car after the 15-year-old driver fled during a traffic stop, according to authorities. While in the area, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a separate vehicle. A second deputy parked his patrol car to block off the vehicle from where the driver fled, police said. As the deputy got out of the patrol vehicle, the other vehicle started moving toward the deputy, according to authorities. The shot struck the front passenger, a 16-year-old Pontiac girl, in her right clavicle, officials said.
Police arrest 2, recover gun after driver in stolen car tries to flee troopers in Detroit
DETROIT – Michigan State Police arrested two people and recovered a gun Thursday after an attempted traffic stop in Detroit. Police said the troopers tried to stop a vehicle that was reported stolen, but the driver fled. Troopers initiated a pit maneuver to stop the car and arrested the driver. The driver was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle. The passenger was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a weapon and resisting police.
