DETROIT – Three Detroit police officers and a fourth person were taken to a hospital after a crash at an intersection on Detroit’s west side, officials said.

The officers were inside a police SUV on Wednesday heading south on Meyers Road, according to authorities. Police said the officers were on their way to help another officer.

When the SUV got to Schoolcraft, it was involved in a crash with a van heading west, officials said. One of the vehicles ran a red light, but it’s not clear which, according to police.

All three officers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities said. They’re all expected to be OK, but the officer who was in the back seat might have broken his leg, officials said.

A man in his late 30s inside the van was also taken to a hospital, according to authorities. He is also expected to be OK.
