OTTAWA COUNTY, MI -- No injuries were reported in a head-on crash between a school bus and car near Grand Haven, police said. The crash happened about 4:10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 and involved a Grand Haven Public Schools bus carrying about 20 students, as well as a 2010 Chevy Impala. Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said the Impala driver, a 20-year-old Grand Haven woman, was driving east on Green Street near 138th Avenue when the car crossed the center line. Police closed Green Street to investigate the crash and clean up the scene. Benjamin Langenderfer, 43, was driving south on U.S. 127 when his 2015 Kia Optima left the road, police said, adding Langenderfer overcorrected when he re-entered the highway, crossing all lanes of traffic and causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times. Langenderfer suffered severe injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The crash is currently under investigation, and it is unknown at this point if alcohol was a contributing factor, police said.
