Victims killed in Isabella County crash identified

The collision occurred about 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, at the intersection of East Blanchard and South Summerton roads in Isabella County’s Lincoln Township. Responding Michigan State Police troopers determined a 75-year-old Ithaca man had been heading south on Summerton when he failed to yield for a stop sign. The second vehicle’s driver and its back seat passenger both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Ithaca man who ran the stop sign was taken from the scene to My Michigan Medical Center in Midland. The Ithaca man’s name is being withheld pending review by the Isabella County Prosecutor’s Office.

DETROIT – One person was killed in a fiery multiple-vehicle crash on I-75 Wednesday afternoon that involved a double gravel hauler and a semi-truck hauling a tanker, WXYZ Detroit reports. At about 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, on southbound I-75 near Shaefer in Detroit, a double gravel hauler struck a pickup truck, causing it to catch fire, the report said. The driver of the pickup truck died in the crash. After hitting the pickup, the gravel hauler continued and hit a semi-truck hauling a tanker, the report said. The drivers of the gravel hauler and semi-truck reported no injuries.

Crews remove trapped woman from vehicle in Thumb area crash

Deputies responded to a 5:52 a.m. report of an injury accident Saturday, April 16, on Rangeline Road near Forester Road in Sanilac County’s Bridgehampton Township. Police said a 23-year-old Melvin woman was traveling south on Rangeline Road when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle entered a ditch on the east side of Rangeline Road, causing it to strike a tree. Police said the woman was trapped inside of the vehicle and was freed by the Deckerville Fire Department and Sanilac EMS. The woman was transported to Deckerville Hospital for treatment and later transferred, by Life Net, to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.

Northern Michigan sheriff’s deputy injured in crash with suspected impaired driver

ANTRIM COUNTY, MI – A Michigan sheriff’s deputy was injured when his patrol car was hit by a suspected impaired driver. A preliminary investigation indicates the Antrim County Sheriff’s deputy was making a U-turn when a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old Holland man struck the driver side of the patrol vehicle. Troopers located marijuana and open alcohol containers inside the passenger compartment of the pickup truck and speed, drugs and/or alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, police said. The deputy and driver of the other vehicle involved were transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City for non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Troopers were assisted by the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office, Mancelona Police Department and Bellaire Police Department as well as EMS and fire personnel.

Investigators believe a 2021 GMC Terrain was heading north on Kinney Road when it collided with a 2012 Nissan Altima traveling south on Kinney Road. Police said photos of the scene, statements and crash data from the vehicles will be used by the St. Clair County Accident Reconstruction Team in its investigation into the fatal crash. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Tri-Hospital EMS, Richmond-Lenox EMS, the Michigan State Police and the Emmett Fire Department.

Michigan couple dead, 1 injured in head-on crash

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, MI – A husband and wife have died after a head-on crash on Monday morning, March 21, in Oakland County, police said. Michael Scott Clyne, 48, and his wife Nicole Ann Clyne 47, both of Lapeer, were pronounced dead at the scene after the crash happened around 10:45 a.m on Ortonville Road, north of Rattalee Lake Road in Independence Township, WDIV Local 4 reports. The driver of the Jeep was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and was expected to be released the same day. The Clynes died at the scene; they were both wearing seatbelts. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Man, dog killed by car while out on a walk near Jackson

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A Horton man and his dog were killed Saturday morning when they were hit by a car while going on a walk in Blackman Township. Officers arrived and discovered a 25-year-old man from Horton, was walking his dog along Parnall Road when he was struck by a 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 35-year-old Holt man going west, police said. The man, identified as Kory C. Wittmann, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The dog was also killed in the crash, dying at the scene as well, police said. MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 71-year-old Muskegon County man. Based on a preliminary investigation, a sheriff’s official said that a semi-tractor trailer allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the man’s pickup. Shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, Muskegon County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Russell Road near Holton Whitehall Road in Muskegon County’s Blue Lake Township, Muskegon County Sheriff’s Capt. The semi hit the pickup truck, ejecting the 71-year-old man from his vehicle. The 71-year-old man was pronounced dead shortly after the crash, which remains under investigation.

Drunken driver injured when her vehicle crashes into abandoned house in Northern Michigan

OTSEGO COUNTY, MI – A drunken driver was injured when the vehicle she was driving left the road and crashed into an abandoned house. An investigation revealed that a 47-year-old Midland woman was traveling eastbound on M-32 when she left the roadway and crashed into an abandoned home. The woman was transported to Otsego Memorial Hospital and treated for several broken ribs and fractured finger. After her release from the hospital, she was lodged in the Otsego County Jail for operating while intoxicated. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Otsego County Fire Department and EMS.

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – A Michigan State Police patrol vehicle stopped on the side of U.S. 23 investigating a crash after Thursday night’s snowstorm was hit by a semitruck driving too fast for road conditions, police say. Woman flees police in SUV, causes 4-car Holland area crash

HOLLAND, MI -- A 38-year-old Ionia woman was injured after police said she fled a traffic stop in an SUV, then caused a four-vehicle crash. An Ottawa County sheriff’s deputy tried to stop an SUV at Riley Street and West Shore Drive, police said, but the driver fled west on Riley Street. Police said the SUV then failed to stop for a red light at Riley Street and 136th Avenue and caused the four-vehicle crash. The SUV driver had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said the SUV driver is awaiting arraignment for charges related to the incident.

Truck-pedestrian crash leaves man dead in Bay County

MERRITT TWP, MI — Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Bay County on New Year’s Eve. About 6:44 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of West Munger and South Finn roads in Merritt Township. The Chevrolet, driven by a 71-year-old man, had been heading west on Munger Road toward the intersection. Schlicker was walking south on Munger, attempting to cross the road when he stepped into the Chevrolet’s path, Cunningham said. Schlicker was taken to McLaren Bay Region hospital, but he died of his injuries at 7:35 p.m., the sheriff said.
