BERKLEY, Mich. – The owner of Salon Simply Beautiful in Berkley joined forces with a mural artist from Pontiac to create some uplifting spring art.

The mural, a homage to Michigan can be seen along Coolidge Highway in Berkley. Nikki Maybee with the salon provided space for Zach Curtis to share his art.

Curtis finished his work on the mural on Friday.

“The wall was so uneventful,” Maybee said. “Boring concrete ... Add artwork to our community.”

The goal was to bring people together and to offer joy to those who see the mural.

“We want something to feel good about life and there’s a lot of heaviness in the world right now,” Maybee said. “It’s a sense of renewal.”
