Construction ramping up at Gordie Howe International Bridge site

Bridge expected to open in 2024

DETROIT – Costing about $4.5 billion, the Gordie Howe International Bridge will be the largest of its kind in North America when work is finished.

The bridge will connect Detroit to Windsor and is expected to open by 2024. Officials said they are on schedule to complete the bridge.

“Nothing has really slowed us down, even with the pandemic. We’ve been able to meet our goals,” said Matt Murphy with Fluor Corporation.

“The port of entry will have nine separate buildings, including toll plazas and inspection lanes for vehicles crossing the border. It’s the largest one in North America,” Murphy later added.
