New cocktail bar opening inside Detroit’s Oak & Reel

The Upright (NTH Element, Oak & Reel)

DETROIT – A new cocktail bar is opening inside one of Detroit’s most popular fine dining restaurants this weekend.

The Upright, from the owners of Oak & Reel, is a cocktail bar concept serving craft cocktails and small plates, opening for the first time this Friday. It’s literally inside Oak & Reel, which is where guests will enter to get to it.

Bar manager Jacob Feitler has laid out a cocktail menu that includes drinks like the Beach Derby, a vibrant drink featuring Elijah Craig bourbon, cinnamon orgeat, honey, grapefruit juice, Cappelletti aperitivo and lemon juice, and The Sonny, which mixes cacao nib infused Mount Gay rum, Cynar, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and demerara for a bold yet balanced sipper.

Chef and Owner Jared Gadbaw dishes out a selection of Italian snacks and small plates, like Bolognese Arancini, and Cacio e Pepe Pasta Fritti, crispy pasta bites with parmesan and pepper.

The Upright opens this Friday, Sept, 30 at 7pm, and will serve guests every Friday and Saturday from 7pm to 12am. Tables are first come, first served, and reservations can be made for parties of 6 or more by calling 313-270-9600. It’s located at 2921 East Grand Blvd. Find more info here.
