Three people were killed and five others were injured Monday night (Feb. 13) when a 43-year-old man opened fire on the Michigan State campus. Police said two people were killed at Berkey Hall and a third was killed at the nearby MSU Student Union.

All eight shooting victims are Michigan State students. Sophomore Brian Fraser, of Grosse Pointe, junior Alexandria Verner, of Clawson, and sophomore Arielle Anderson, of Grosse Pointe, have been identified as the students who were killed.

The third person who was killed has not been publicly identified, per the family’s wishes.

The superintendent of the Grosse Pointe Public School System sent a letter to families Tuesday morning revealing that two of the three fatal shooting victims recently graduated from Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South.

“Earlier this morning, I learned that both Grosse Pointe North and South each have a recent graduate who died from their injuries last night at MSU,” Superintendent Jon Dean said. “I can’t even process what I just wrote. How can we have our community impacted in this personal way?”
