Police have arrested Tino Lopez Evans after he was caught with large amounts of mail addressed to residents in Bloomfield Hills.

The incident occurred on Sunday (Nov. 5) at 1:05 a.m. when Bloomfield Hills officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle near some mailboxes on Stratford Lane.

Officials said when they arrived on the scene and located Evans, he attempted to flee on foot. Evans was arrested after a short pursuit.

Police say the large amount of mail addressed to the residence on Stratford Lane, Boulder Lane, and Arbor Court was found in Evans’ vehicle.

Evans was arraigned in the 48th District Court, where he was charged with one count of stealing a financial transaction device (felony), one count of resisting and obstructing police officers (felony), and three counts of mail theft (misdemeanor).

He was lodged at the Oakland County Jail on a $35,000 bond pending his next court date.
