FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – An Oakland County woman is facing an injunction after she reportedly ran an unlicensed adult foster care facility out of a home.

According to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, a preliminary injunction was against Erica Edwards and her unlicensed adult foster care facility ETE Homes Inc., doing business as Talison Assisted Living.

The Attorney General requested the injunction after a complaint led to an investigation by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

The investigation revealed Edwards had reportedly operated a facility in a residential home for eight foster care residents, including some that required physical assistance and around-the-clock care. The live-in staff reportedly administered medication and the facility accepted payment from its residents, all without the proper licensure.

Oakland County Circuit Court Judge David M. Cohen said the facility was in violation of the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act and prohibited Edwards and her employees from providing unlicensed care.

Edwards, her companies, agents and employees have been ordered to cooperate with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Adult Protective Services workers, Adult Foster Care Licensing workers, Community Mental Health workers and law enforcement to assess and relocate residents in need of foster care.

A hearing will be scheduled by June 11 to determine if a permanent injunction should be issued.
