PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Local 4 News is getting out of the studio and hitting the road to be In Your Neighborhood! We’re showcasing what makes our communities great!
For all of our stops, we like to dig up some things you might not know about each community.
And there are plenty of interesting facts about Plymouth. It’s home to the Plymouth Ice Festival, one of the oldest and largest ice-carving festivals in North America.
The city was settled back in 1825. While residents weren’t thrilled with the name, the name they wanted was already taken and Plymouth was the second choice.
It’s also the hometown of Detroit Lions superstar Aidan Hutchinson.
Its downtown area is packed with restaurants, shops and small businesses. It’s a famously walkable community with something always going on.

At the center of downtown is Kellogg Park, one of the original owners of the land. It hosts events all year round.
In the summer, it’s filled with art for Art in the Park, one of the region’s largest annual art fairs. An estimated 300,000 people attend the event every year.
Every Friday during the summer, it hosts the Music in the Air Concert Series, which run from the end of May through the beginning of September.
