Man arrested, charged in 2021 fentanyl overdose death of Birmingham teen If convicted, Aron Miranda faces possible life in prison

DETROIT – A 24-year-old man is facing several felonies in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of a Birmingham teenager.
Jack McCarthy was 19 years old when he died in September 2021.
Birmingham police believe Aron Miranda sold the teen fentanyl less than an hour before he died.
McCarthy’s family said the teen had anxiety and believed he was buying Xanax . The pills were reportedly counterfeit and laced with fentanyl. An attorney alleged McCarthy ingested enough fentanyl to kill two people .
Miranda was arrested by the Birmingham Police Department on Tuesday, March 12.
He was charged Wednesday, March 13, with delivery of a controlled substance causing death, delivery/manufacturing of a controlled substance less than 50 grams and felony firearm.
Miranda was given a $150,000 personal bond. He is expected to return to court for a probable cause hearing March 20.
