Metro Detroiters count down to highly anticipated concert at Michigan Central Station

Detroit native Eminem is producing the event

DETROIT – If you were walking down Michigan Avenue Wednesday night, you heard something special.

Jack White, Big Sean, and Melissa Etheridge were doing their sound checks for Thursday’s (July 6) big concert, which Detroit native Eminem is producing.

Tickets for the concert sold out in minutes, but we’ll be airing it on Local 4 and all our platforms so everybody can participate in Ford’s grand reveal of the beautifully restored Michigan Central Station.

“You have people from all walks of life coalescing at the station and making it grow from literal rubble to an epic masterpiece,” Tim Fry told us as he listened to Jack White’s sound check.

Ben Dueweke was riding his bike home and stopped to listen to the sound checks.

“I’m excited to be around the vibe,” Dueweke told us, he’s got tickets for the show.

“I’m most looking forward to seeing Jack White.” While Eminem is producing Thursday’s concert, he’s not scheduled to perform, and people have a simple request. “Em, we’re waiting for you,” Blake Farber said. “Please make an appearance. We’re ready. You are Detroit.”
