Background: Parents alarmed after student is shot on bus outside high school in Redford Township
Police said the 28-year-old woman is related to the shooting suspect. She was charged with violating Michigan’s safe storage laws and has since been released on bond.
It happened May 7 at Thurston High School, off Schoolcraft Road. The school was closed briefly afterward for a “Day of Healing.”
According to authorities, a student brought an unsecured handgun to school in his backpack and while sitting on the school bus, he was handling the gun when it discharged, hitting another boy in the left hand.
