Man allegedly attacks Oakland County gym staff, leads police on chase, crashes

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – A man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after allegedly committing a series of crimes in West Bloomfield.

According to authorities, police received a 911 call at about 9:30 a.m. regarding a man punching staff at the Planet Fitness on Orchard Lake Road. He reportedly also charged at staff with a metal object.

When police arrived, the man had already gotten into his car. He allegedly tried to run over a police officer and struck multiple police cruisers before leading officers on a high-speed chase through a residential neighborhood.

After crashing into multiple police vehicles again, his vehicle came to a stop. Police said he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

A police officer and the suspect were taken to a hospital with suspected minor injuries.
