Her son had called to tell police that his mother’s breathing was irregular and she was drifting in and out of consciousness. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died. The circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation, Bouchard said.
During the course of their welfare check, deputies said they saw printed child porn images.
“(Deputies) were able to see in plain view very disturbing child sexually abusive material," Bouchard said. "The terrible toll this takes on children must be laid at the door of the perpetrators."
Deputies said they got a search warrant and found more pornographic images. Overall, there were thousands of pictures involving children stored on electronic devices, they said.
Detectives confiscated the images, computers, gaming systems, and a cellphone.
