Man accused of threatening, making vulgar remarks at men in Oakland County mall

Man also allegedly exposes himself to corrections officers after arrest

TROY, Mich. – A man is accused of making vulgar remarks to two men and threatening them at a mall in Oakland County.

Subi Saad, 53, of Northville, was charged with a hate crime, aggravated indecent exposure and disturbing the peace.

Saad allegedly approached two men in a store in Somerset Mall on May 11, made vulgar remarks about Islam and threatened them with violence, saying he had a gun in his car.

Saad was escorted from the mall and told he was banned from the property. The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office said he then loudly shouted vulgarities at police officers in the parking lot.

Later in the day, after his arrest, prosecutors said he exposed himself to corrections officers while he was in jail.

A hate crime is punishable by two years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. Aggravated indecent exposure is punishable by two years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine. Disturbing the peace is a misdemeanor punishable by 90 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.
