Michigan resort closes historic ski season with Memorial Day runs in 70-degree weather

Oakland County Sheriff’s Office seeks public’s help in fatal shooting of 25-year-old man

Police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation of a fatal shooting in Pontiac.

Deputies were called around 10 p.m. Sunday, May 24, to a home on Central Avenue, near Woodward Avenue, where they found a 25-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the neck, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said. No arrests have been announced.

Belle Isle road closures underway for new traffic pattern work

Central Avenue on Belle Isle will be temporarily closed this week while the Michigan Department of Natural Resources completes traffic pattern work to help ease road congestion on the island.

Previously a one-way road, Central Avenue is being updated to allow for two-way traffic from Picnic Way to Portage Way.
