Weather: Wednesday bringing warmest temps of the week before cooler air returns to Southeast Michigan

Metro Detroit is in for another taste of summer today as temperatures climb a few degrees higher than yesterday, reaching the mid-80s by afternoon under a mix of sunshine and increasing clouds. The warmer air mass will remain in place through much of the day, but as a cold front pushes through this afternoon and evening, there will be a low chance for scattered showers and non-severe thunderstorms. Most communities are expected to stay dry, but a few brief downpours or rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out as the front moves through.

Once the front exits the area tonight, a refreshing stretch of weather ensues for the remainder of the week. Cooler, drier air will settle across the Great Lakes, bringing temperatures back closer to seasonal averages.
