OXFORD, Mich. – An Oakland County man accused of posing as a teen boy online to exploit girls, and as a father looking for a babysitter, has accepted a plea deal in the case.

In a plea agreement signed and filed on Tuesday, Brandon John Cifani, 29, of Oxford, agreed to plead guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of children — a minimum 15-year felony — in exchange for the dismissal of his two other charges, coercion and enticement of a minor and possession of child pornography.

Cifani was arrested on Sept. 16, 2025, following a months-long investigation that began when a border patrol agent found child sexually explicit content in his phone during a search at Detroit Metro Airport.

However, victim complaints against him span several years and include allegations of fraud and sexual assault.

Among them was Shelby Clark, of Almont, Mich., who filed a report after hearing other allegations against Cifani.

“I thank God every day,” Clark told Local 4 at the time of his arrest, adding that she encountered Cifani when he was posing as a father looking for a babysitter for his son. “My family thanks God every day. My parents tell me I had an angel on my shoulder that day.”

Clark, who worked in childcare at the time, met Cifani through Care.com.

When he came to her home without a child, she said he asked inappropriate questions like if she would be willing to “go outside” of her relationship, and requested to go upstairs with her.

Clark then asked him if he was there for childcare, and he claimed he was there for “companionship,” prompting Clark to tell him to leave immediately.

As she closed the door, Clark said Cifani continued to act like he was invited over to hang out.

Investigators say Cifani also posed as a teen boy named “Brody” online, asked a 12-year-old girl to perform sexual acts, and secretly recorded other girls.

Cifani is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. on Dec. 7. Sexual exploitation of children carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and at least five years of supervised release, as well as a fine of up to $250,000.
