On August 19th, Local 4 partnered with Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) for our Go 4 It event, “Hygiene Basics!” For 117 years, DRMM has provided food, shelter, and supportive services to people experiencing homelessness and substance-use challenges.
The event focused on collecting new hygiene items to help stock DRMM’s shelters and assembling individual hygiene kits filled with everyday essentials. Hundreds of items were donated through the Amazon Wish List, and more were dropped off throughout the day.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, volunteers assembled more than 1,000 hygiene kits. Each kit included items such as toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, socks, and more. The community also raised $7,049 in online donations, surpassing the original $5,000 goal. Those contributions will help support DRMM’s mission and the vital services they provide to those in need.
