Early morning truck fire, diesel spill slowing traffic on WB I-96 at Livernois

DETROIT – An early morning crash and subsequent diesel spill involving a truck on westbound I-96 at Livernois Avenue in Detroit has caused backups this morning, as cleanup efforts are underway. 

The crash was first reported just before 4 a.m., and fire officials are still on the scene. Aerial footage from Sky 4 appears to show cleanup efforts after a truck reportedly caught fire, spilling diesel into the roadway.

It’s not yet clear whether any injuries have been reported or what precipitated the crash, however cleanup crews remain at the scene with only the far left lane open to traffic.

Drivers in the area should seek an alternate route.
