🗳️ Secure elections in Michigan

While we're talking politics and elections, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has convened an Election Security Advisory Commission to help safeguard our elections in 2020 and beyond.  Benson's office said this task force of election officials and security experts is looking at ways to improve security and will provide a list of recommendations to safeguard elections in Michigan against foreign interference and other threats to democracy. The advisory commission is holding a series of meetings in 2019 and will make election security recommendations in advance of the 2020 elections. The public hearing TODAY is part of a comprehensive effort to obtain citizen input.

Detroit schools one-stop enrollment 🎒

Pop-Up Enrollment Centers are a one-stop location for enrolling children in DPSCD schools for the 2019-20 school year. Families will be able to enroll children in all district schools, including the new Barton and Edmonson elementary schools as well as Hamilton Elementary-Middle School as well as learn about Montessori and wrap around services. The center will be open daily starting TODAY and going through Friday, August 23 -- 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. each day.

🚨 MSP speeding crackdown

Expect to see troopers in Wayne and Oakland counties on traffic details on M-10 (Lodge Freeway) and also I-96. State police wrote more than 200 tickets and issued more than 100 verbal warnings last week, but said there is more to be done. Look out and, again, drive safely!
