BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — A former fraternity president has pleaded guilty in the hazing death of a Bowling Green State University student. Daylen Dunson, 22, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty Thursday to several charges, including reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, obstruction and eight counts of misdemeanor hazing. Authorities have said Foltz died from alcohol poisoning after a fraternity initiation event where he was allegedly hazed into finishing an entire bottle of alcohol. Foltz died three days after he was put on life support. By taking the deal with Wood County prosecutors, Dunson became the sixth person to plead guilty in the case.

Bowling Green senior Brandon Kruse earned Western Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Month honors after a standout showing in January. The Saline native compiled 14 points – six goals and eight assists – for the Falcons last month en route to the award. The 5-foot-10 forward and scored at least a point in nine of BGSU’s 10 games in January. Kruse graduated from Saline and played junior hockey for the Brookings Blizzards and the Belle Tire U16 program prior to joining the Falcons. Teammate Will Cullen was named WCHA Defensemen of the month of January as well.

Livers scores 21, Michigan beat Ball State 84-65
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Isaiah Livers scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, Hunter Dickinson had his first career double-double, and Michigan beat Ball State 84-65 on Wednesday night. Franz Wagner added 14 points and Mike Smith scored 10 for Michigan (3-0). Dickinson made a layup to make it 34-14 with 5:39 left in the first half, but the Cardinals scored 19 of the last 25 first-half points. El-Amin hit a jumper early just 14 seconds after halftime to trim Ball State's deficit to 40-35, but Michigan scored the next six points and the Cardinals got no closer. Walton led Ball State (0-2) with 20 points.
Michigan basketball will open season against Bowling Green
A week before the start of the college basketball season, Michigan’s opponent for the opener was unveiled. The Wolverines will host Bowling Green on Nov. 25. Bowling Green announced the game on Monday. Bowling Green (Ohio) went 21-10 last season, including a 12-6 mark in the Mid-American Conference. In total, Bowling Green returns three starters from a season ago.

The Mid-American Conference released 2020 football schedules for its 12 member teams on Wednesday, and the first three weeks will all be played on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, with the final three weeks taking place on Saturdays in late November through mid-December. Kickoff times and broadcast details have yet to be announced, but tailgating and general public attendance at the games is prohibited. We’re only 27 days away from kickoff, but for the faithful fans of Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, it’s better late than never. Items that will no longer appear on the menu include Original Chick-n-Strips, Grilled Cool Wrap, the side salad and decaf coffee. The chicken chain is also expanding a test of new spicy menu items, including the Spicy Chick-n-Strips, the Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich and the Spicy Chick-n-Strips Biscuit. The menu tests are notable because Chick-fil-A, unlike many of its competitors, rarely changes its menu.

GM-UAW contract talks focus on temp workers
The union approved the occasional use of temporary workers by U.S. automakers during the last contract talks in 2015, when the two sides agreed to gradually phase out the existing two-tier wage structure. Temp workers, who typically make less than $20 an hour and have limited benefits, account for about 7% of its U.S. workforce. GM says it can reduce labor costs and safeguard union jobs by using more temporary workers. The use of temporary workers also allows the Detroit automakers to cover for high rates of absenteeism among UAW workers. The companies want the UAW to agree to stricter rules to discourage workers from failing to show up for their shifts.
