DETROIT – On Feb. 7, 2020, a popular Detroit DJ with a growing following was killed in an armed robbery outside of a place where he was set to perform. The family of Byron Gilbert, also known as DJ Slick B, gathered Sunday to keep his memory alive and to renew the push to find his killer on the anniversary of his death. DETROIT – A popular Detroit DJ with a growing following was killed in an armed robbery outside of a place where he was set to perform. “This has been the most painful experience, I ever had to deal with in my life,” said Gilbert-Scott. They said the suspects robbed and murdered DJ Slick B around 7:30 p.m. on West McNichols at Illene Street. DETROIT – A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in Detroit musician DJ Slick B’s murder. The DJ’s real name is Byron Gilbert. He was murdered Feb. 7 at around 7:30 p.m.Gilbert, 28, was shot by two unknown gunmen who robbed him. The shooting happened on west McNichols at Ilene Street on Detroit’s west side.
