ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MI – Drugs amounting to more than $1 million in street value are off the streets following a narcotics investigation by the St. Clair County Drug Task Force. In a Monday, Aug. 22, news release, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office announced that 348 pounds of marijuana, 24 pounds of ecstasy, $36,000 and pistol ammunition were seized during an Aug. 18 operation in Columbus Township and Detroit. Authorities said the arrests concluded a lengthy investigation into the smuggling of narcotics through St. Clair County via the Blue Water Bridge. The truck backed up to a van and what is believed to be narcotics were transferred to the van, authorities said. That van was stopped and the driver was arrested in connection with the investigation.

Four people were arrested after 348 pounds of marijuana and 24 pounds of ecstasy were seized from a truck that crossed the Blue Water Bridge into Michigan, officials said.

A man was killed and three people -- including two children -- were seriously injured when snowy conditions caused a head-on collision in Chesterfield Township, police said.
