$1M in marijuana, ecstasy seized in St. Clair County narcotics investigation
ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MI – Drugs amounting to more than $1 million in street value are off the streets following a narcotics investigation by the St. Clair County Drug Task Force. In a Monday, Aug. 22, news release, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office announced that 348 pounds of marijuana, 24 pounds of ecstasy, $36,000 and pistol ammunition were seized during an Aug. 18 operation in Columbus Township and Detroit. Authorities said the arrests concluded a lengthy investigation into the smuggling of narcotics through St. Clair County via the Blue Water Bridge. The truck backed up to a van and what is believed to be narcotics were transferred to the van, authorities said. That van was stopped and the driver was arrested in connection with the investigation.
