18-year-old charged in assault of Macys store manager at Genesee Valley Center Flint
FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton charged an 18-year-old Mount Morris Township man in the assault of a manager at the Macys department store in the Genesee Valley Center in Flint Township. In surveillance video obtained from Macys by Flint Township police, Palmer is seen walking around the store; he then approaches and punches the manager in the head from behind knocking him to the floor. The video shows Palmer continuing to strike the manager while he is on the floor. Leyton indicated that despite public comments on social media, the police investigation did not uncover any evidence of provocation by the store manager. He also said there is no audio on the Macys store surveillance video contrary to what some had indicated.
Flint prosecutor limits some cases linked to police stops
DETROIT A Flint-area prosecutor said Tuesday that his office will no longer authorize criminal charges in cases that begin with a police officer stopping someone for simply walking in the street. It's more often used in urban areas where minorities live instead of suburban communities, said Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton. The new policy comes while officials across the U.S. talk about how minorities have been treated in the justice system. He said Flint has an ordinance barring people from walking in the street when there's a sidewalk, even though the sidewalk might be in bad shape or poorly lit. The majority of the stops don't result in anything other than detaining a private citizen.
Woman arraigned in killing of security guard over virus mask
Sharmel L. Teague, 45, of Flint, was arraigned Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in 67th Distirct Court on first-degree murder and felony firearm charges. Sharmel Teague, 45, was arraigned via video Tuesday in district court, according to the Genesee County prosecutor's office. Larry Teague and Bishop have yet to be arrested and were believed to be on the run, prosecutor David Leyton said. Two men later came to the store, and one of them shot Munerlyn in the back of the head. Witnesses identified Bishop as the man who shot Munerlyn, according to Leyton.

In court Friday, Genesee County medical examiner Brian Hunter spoke about what he found on the victims body during the autopsy. He said the victim didnt have a history of heart failure and she didnt drown.

But investigators now believe Jason Harris poisoned her at their home in Davison, 60 miles (100 kilometers) north of Detroit.
