Reno Kenyatte Johnson, 44, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Johnson’s charges were filed in connection with an assault that took place in a cabin at the Outdoor Adventures Lakeshore Resort in Richfield Township June 19, 2017. After confronting Johnson about what occurred, the family took the victim to the Richfield Township Police Department. They did not disclose that when they were called to the school before the shooting, and they were shown a picture Ethan had drawn depicting a shooting. FLINT, MI -- Thirteen Genesee County Students have now been charged for threatening to shoot up their schools, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton told MLive-The Flint Journal Friday. The list of students charged has increased from seven students just three days ago. Each of the 13 students have been charged with false report of terrorism, a 20-year felony, and additional computer-related charges, depending on the incident. For almost two years, Skellenger said he investigated Christina Harris’ death by conducting interviews of the couple’s coworkers and neighbors. Jason Harris also told police Christina Harris had been battling a cold and was treated by a doctor for asthma. A woman moved into the couple’s home two months after Christina Harris’ death.

In February 2020, the deputy chief of staff was involved in a bar fight that sent Flint Councilman Eric Mays to the hospital, but neither man was charged with a crime following an investigation by Michigan State Police.

GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- The Genesee County Redistricting Commission voted Wednesday, Oct. 6 to keep nine county commission seats for the next 10 years. The commission, made up of County Clerk John Gleason, County Prosecutor David Leyton, County Treasurer Deb Cherry and the chairs of both political parties, voted 4-1 to keep nine county commissioners. “Nine (county commissioners) has worked pretty well over the past at least 20 years.”Gleason was the lone no vote on the move. The redistricting commission will start considering new district lines and maps at its next meeting, Cherry said. The commission will meet at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday beginning next week at at the Genesee County Administration building, 1101 Beach St., in downtown Flint to consider the lines until finished.

FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton charged an 18-year-old Mount Morris Township man in the assault of a manager at the Macys department store in the Genesee Valley Center in Flint Township. In surveillance video obtained from Macys by Flint Township police, Palmer is seen walking around the store; he then approaches and punches the manager in the head from behind knocking him to the floor. The video shows Palmer continuing to strike the manager while he is on the floor. Leyton indicated that despite public comments on social media, the police investigation did not uncover any evidence of provocation by the store manager. He also said there is no audio on the Macys store surveillance video contrary to what some had indicated.
Flint prosecutor limits some cases linked to police stops
DETROIT A Flint-area prosecutor said Tuesday that his office will no longer authorize criminal charges in cases that begin with a police officer stopping someone for simply walking in the street. It's more often used in urban areas where minorities live instead of suburban communities, said Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton. The new policy comes while officials across the U.S. talk about how minorities have been treated in the justice system. He said Flint has an ordinance barring people from walking in the street when there's a sidewalk, even though the sidewalk might be in bad shape or poorly lit. The majority of the stops don't result in anything other than detaining a private citizen.
Woman arraigned in killing of security guard over virus mask
Sharmel L. Teague, 45, of Flint, was arraigned Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in 67th Distirct Court on first-degree murder and felony firearm charges. Sharmel Teague, 45, was arraigned via video Tuesday in district court, according to the Genesee County prosecutor's office. Larry Teague and Bishop have yet to be arrested and were believed to be on the run, prosecutor David Leyton said. Two men later came to the store, and one of them shot Munerlyn in the back of the head. Witnesses identified Bishop as the man who shot Munerlyn, according to Leyton.
